I've been in fucking remedial sessions with that icyhot bastard. [ he growls, almost like a dog, almost bristling and downcast like a reprimanded animal as well. damn humiliating. he used to be at the top of the pack, or at least he'd always think so, and now he's here. ex-hostage rescuee. punished with house arrest. attending extra classes for failing an important hero exam. it's galling. ] Anyway, it's nothing important. [ he hadn't really meant to put it that bluntly, but he does mean it. kirishima beat up is slightly infuriating, but... these wounds are battle scars from an important battle. he can respect that. ]

[he squirms in the bed, it's a little strange hearing that he's important from the mouth of his friend. kirishima is used to the loud and proud attitude of bakugou self-claiming his importance. it's not that he's uncomfortable by being called important it's just, he's not used to the kind of attention that warrants this respect.

[well, everyone in their class. even deku- the hospital prone hero, was discharged. and though bakugou might think differently from the next statement, kirishima still feels a bit unsure of his abilities.]

I want to get stronger so I'm not, [he gestures at his bandages, the hospital gown, the bed], helpless.

[ ... well, this may be true, but. ] Look at it this way, you idiot. They fucked you up bad enough to put you in here for this long, but what if they'd beat up someone else like they did to you? Hell, if they got their hands on Deku, he'd practically break his own bones for them. They'd barely have to lift a finger.

You are strong. You went through a hell of a beating, more than anyone could have. So don't feel shitty for staying in here longer.

Bakugou... [bakugou's words are... oddly comforting. they embrace kirishima's wounds and insecurities and fill him with such pride that the adults failed to truly capture. he's not crying but tears well up in his eyes. bakugou is being such a good friend today???]
